Tobias Leonhardt studied English, Sociolinguistics and Sports Science at the University of Bern, where he graduated in 2013. His main research interests are articulatory and acoustic phonetics, sociophonetics, first and second language phonology, and lesser known varieties of English.

He is currently working as a PhD student for the SNF-funded project "English in paradise?: Emergent varieties in Micronesia" and focuses on the history, development and structure of Kiribati English (for further information see www.english-in-micronesia.weebly.com).
