Liz is a doctoral researcher in the English department and a member of the CURLEW project (a Census of Urban and Rural Language in England and Wales). She completed her studies at the University of Cambridge in 2025, with an MPhil thesis investigating sound change reversals in the capital city of Aotearoa New Zealand. Her PhD research examines the dynamics of supralocalisation in England and Wales, and how changes to our everyday routine interactions can account for patterns of linguistic change at the ‘macro’ scale.
