Jess completed her MA in Sociolinguistics at the Centre for the Study of Language and Society (CSLS) in 2025. She is now a doctoral researcher on CURLEW: a Census of Urban and Rural Language in England and Wales. Her PhD research explores how language change in the West Midlands is shaped by intraregional mobility, and how these processes are mediated by ethnic identities and place-based ideologies.
