Jakhan Pirhulyieva is a PhD student and doctoral assistant under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Virginia Richter. She is currently working on her application for a Doc.CH (SNF). The provisional title of her project is "Polar Exploration in Romantic Fiction: Narratives of Ships and Ice Realms".

English literature of the 19th century, Contemporary English literature, space and spatiality, literature and science, travel, mobility, the problem of identity, postcolonial studies.
