The SNSF Sinergia Project «Mediating the Ecological Imperative: Formats and Modes of Engagement,» in collaboration with the Collegium generale, hosts writer Alexandra Kleeman (New York) to discuss her novel Something New Under the Sun (Hogarth, 2021). Kleeman, a 2022 Guggenheim Fellow, has been published in The New Yorker and The Paris Review, among others, and is the winner of the Berlin Prize and the Bard Fiction Prize.
In her often-witty and all-too-timely novel, Alexandra Kleeman grapples with the corruption of our environment in the age of alternative facts. Something New Under the Sun is a meticulous and deeply felt accounting of our very human anxities, liabilities, dependencies, and, ultimately, responsibility to truth.
The conversation will take place in English. A German translation, Der Stoff, aus dem die Tränen sind, was published by Kein & Aber in August.
