Access Arrangements / Nachteilsausgleich

Following the UniBe's equal opportunities policy, students with disabilities or chronic illnesses are entitled to certain Access Arrangements which means proportionate adjustments to study and examination conditions. The kinds of arrangements available are those listed on the central administration website (see links above). Putting these arrangements in place can take time so students should contact that study counsellor well in advance, bringing with them relevant medical/specialist documentation. Ideally, this documentation should indicate what access arrangements are appropriate to the particular disability or chronic illness. The counsellor and Head of Department will work with the student to prepare a fixed-term Access Arrangement agreement, which will have to be renewed on a regular basis. (Note: UniBe policy is informed by guidelines established by the Netzwerk Studium und Behinderung Schweiz.)
