In line with UniBe's equal opportunities policy, students with disabilities or chronic illnesses are entitled to certain access arrangements, which involve proportionate adjustments to study and examination conditions. UniBe's policy on access arrangements is informed by guidelines established by the Netzwerk Studium und Behinderung Schweiz. Further details on available arrangements can be found on the central administration website.
To request access arrangements, students must contact their study counsellor by the semester deadline listed below. They should provide relevant medical or specialist documentation, such as a doctor’s note, along with a list of requested accommodations. For help with gathering the necessary documents, students can refer to the checklists provided by the UniBe Equal Opportunities Office (links below).
The study counsellor will assist the student in submitting a formal request to the Head of Department. The English Department will then review the request and decide on the appropriate accommodations, ensuring that these do not interfere with the learning objectives of the study program.
Deadlines
If you wish to request access arrangements for a given semester*, adhere to the following deadlines:
- Contact your study counsellor by the Friday of Week 2
- Submit a formal request for access arrangements by the Friday of Week 4
Students are strongly encouraged to submit their requests well in advance to ensure timely processing.
*Students with chronic illnesses and permanent disabilities will be granted access arrangements for the duration of their study program.
